Overview
Based on a comprehensive understanding of the developmental process of geography, research methodologies and geographic systems, the department focuses on advanced research and theory on place, region and the environment, so as to nurture experts in geography, geographic information, regional planning as well as spatial planning.
The department seeks to improve the quality of human life through research on spatial features and the harmonious relationship between human beings and nature. Its primary purpose is to produce experts in environmental adaptation, GIS and other related fields. The various regions covered also include the North Pole, the South Pole, the Himalayas and Africa. The social significance of Gangnam and spatial characteristics related to socially vulnerable groups are also studied.
